   Sergeant Ernest Malatinka was found dead of a gunshot wound inside the Robertsdale substation.

   A month later, the coroner ruled the death accidental as gun-cleaning materials were found at the desk. It was determined he was shot with the shotgun he had been cleaning.

   Sergeant Malatinka was survived by his wife, daughter, two sons, mother and sister.
