   Special Deputy Sheriff Bill Yanich was killed in an automobile accident while patrolling State Road 10 just west of Lake Village.

   He was riding in a squad car driven by a deputy when it was struck on the passenger side by another vehicle, killing Special Deputy Yanich and seriously injuring the deputy.

   The 22-year-old driver was under the influence of alcohol and both he and his 24-year-old brother who was a passenger were also injured.

   Special Deputy Sheriff Yanich, from Lake Village, was survived by his wife, three daughters, two brothers and mother.
