Patrolman Michael Waldron was killed in a two-vehicle accident after his patrol car was struck head-on by an oncoming vehicle about one mile south of LaGrange.

The other vehicle had crossed the center line while rounding a curve at a high rate of speed. Patrolman Waldron died of massive chest injuries when the impact forced both vehicle engines into their passenger compartments.

All three male occupants, ages 17, 18 and 23, in the other vehicle were also killed.

Patrolman Waldron was survived by his wife, who had served as a deputy with the LaGrange County Sheriff's Department.
