Patrolman George Little and Patrolman Elmer Stephenson were shot and killed while attempting to arrest a suspect for being intoxicated in public at the Pennsylvania Railroad Depot freight office.

   The officers were unaware that the suspect had just attempted to kill his boss. When the officers arrived they were both shot. Although mortally wounded, Patrolman Little and a railroad employee were able to subdue the suspect.

   Five days later the 35-year-old suspect pleaded guilty to two counts of murder. He was sentenced to life in prison but was paroled in 1954 and died two years later.

   Patrolman Little was survived by his wife.
