Panel 27E, Line 31 (2019)
Panel L24, Line 13 (2018)

Sergeant Edward Bollman drowned while attempting a water rescue in Lake Cherokee at Camp Kikthawenund southwest of Frankton.

He was off duty with a 74-year-old close friend when they were reported missing, at 9:00 pm, six hours after their departure on an ice fishing trip and failed to return. Their vehicle was located at the camp and a large hole was seen in the ice-covered lake. Emergency crews responded and recovered their bodies in 20 feet of water at 11:50 pm.

An investigation revealed the close friend had suffered a massive heart attack before falling into the water. Sergeant Bollman drowned after entering the water in an attempt to rescue him and render aid.

Sergeant Bollman, from Anderson, was survived by his wife, Belinda; son, Hunter; parents, Ronald and Nancy; brother, Ben; three sisters, Ronda Osenbaugh, Rebecca (George) Sears and Jessica (Kevin) Carey; and maternal grandmother, Imelda Vores.

In 2012, he received the department's Meritorious Service Award for saving the life of a near-drowning victim at Geist Reservior in Marion County.
