Town Marshal Francis Lloyd died from injuries he suffered the previous day after being involved in a single-vehicle accident.

He and a Sullivan County deputy sheriff had responded to an accident with injuries at County Road 575 East and County Road 900 North. Shortly after both officers left the location, Marshal Lloyd returned to the scene from about a mile away.

The northbound vehicle driven by Marshal Lloyd crossed into the oncoming lane near a bridge, went into a field and came to rest in a ditch where he was found inside.

He was transported to Mary Sherman Hospital in Sullivan before being transferred to Terre Haute Regional Hospital where he died the following day on Thanksgiving.

Town Marshal Lloyd also served with the Hymera Volunteer Fire Department and had previously retired from the California Department of Corrections. He was survived by his wife, son, two daughters, three sisters, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
